Food and drink at Portobello Place Care Home
Eating is such a social thing, so we carefully considered not only what our residents like to eat but where. We have created lovely welcoming spaces within Portobello Place to enjoy drinks, snacks and meals together, such as dining rooms, lounges and our bar & bistro area. The jewel in the crown is our fine dining room, which is available to all residents for private functions, whether it’s a special occasion or you just fancy dinner with the family.
Creating delicious culinary delights throughout the day for permanent residents and those here for respite care and day care, there’s always something tasty on the menu to suit your palate – and there’s plenty of choice, too.
Our bar not only looks amazing, it is full of everything you would expect to find in a five star hotel and served up by our specially trained hospitality and bar team who will even mix you a cocktail of choice!
Health care at Portobello Place
First and foremost at Portobello Place, our residents’ health and wellbeing is front and centre of everything we do. The health care team is therefore trained to support everyone in what they need and in a way they would like. Everything is documented using state-of-the-art electronic care planning.
Personal Trainer
Maintaining optimal mobility is important to everyone and underpins their natural feeling of independence. Our own personal trainer, Stephen, is here to help individuals find out what works best for them and produces the best results. Little-and-often planned exercise is integral in the prevention of trips and falls.
Physiotherapist
The comfort of our residents is ensured by maintaining a watch on their mobility, posture and noting patterns and any issues which occur. Each resident will need individual programmes and our physiotherapist is here to make sure everyone remains mobile and comfortable.
Chiropodist
Regular podiatry checks and advice on care are ongoing. Maintaining good foot health is essential and can also help identify any other issues which residents may experience. A holistic approach to healthcare starts with the feet.
Health and Fitness
If you have enjoyed an active life, it is important to keep it up into later life as part of an overall fitness plan. If you have not been so active, it is never too late to start and to feel the benefits to your overall life.
Our research tells us that heightened fitness and higher energy as a person ages both help in reducing falls and can have an effect in staving off dementia.
As well as low impact exercise equipment, our residents regularly enjoy the social scene that is group yoga and other classes.
