Important information on isolation and COVID testing

Our homes are still accepting new admissions but with a few extra measures to keep everyone safe. All new residents joining us are asked to take a Polymerase Chain Reaction test (PCR) Covid test prior to admission.

We will be happy for a team member to visit your home to do the test, the resident will need to self-isolate at home for 3 days prior to admission. If the resident lives outside of the area we can assist you by arranging a Covid test either through your GP, or posting one out to you if you feel confident to undertake the test,  If the new resident is in a support bubble with other family members or a friend, we can offer a test for those individuals.

Please ring and email the homes General Manager with your test results.

On admission day we would carry out a Lateral Flow Device Test (LFD) and the resident will be introduced to our team for a 1 to 1 Well Being Programme for 11 days. During this time this ensures new residents do not feel isolated and includes daily Skype calls and phone calls with family and friends. A named key worker or nurse will be assigned to our new resident joining us and will continue to enhance the care planning.

Our homes General and Deputy Manager will also spend time with you during this time.

During this time, we will retest (LFT and PCR) with negative results you will be able to enjoy the company of a nominated family member or friend after day 10

Day 11

As part of our Well Being Programme, our new resident can enjoy Afternoon Tea, Cocktails and Nibbles or Cheese and Wine with fellow residents and make new friends around the home.

If you have any questions, please email the Home Manager or Louise Atherton Clinical Governance Manager – louise@berkleycaregroup.co.uk

We look forward to welcoming you to a Berkley Care Home.
