Berkley Care Group is a collection of all-inclusive, 5-star hotels offering care to the elderly.

Comprising seven homes dotted around the South East, South West and Midlands, the multi-award-winning Berkley Care Group is rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.

People who are entering their later years in the 21st century have led sophisticated and cultured lives, having enjoyed their adulthood in prosperous post-war Britain. They have worked hard, raised families and we firmly believe in indulging their broad and fascinating range of hobbies and tastes to the fullest extent, especially during these challenging times. Our residents come here to have a quality of life and to be happy and we take great pleasure in facilitating this.

This is where our superb, carefully chosen events managers come in. Tasked with planning a huge variety of events and activities, we want our residents to enjoy themselves. In more normal times, we encourage family members and the local community to join in too. From a casino night to wine tasting and from comedians to live music, even belly dancing, life begins when our warm and happy homes.

Our homes are all-inclusive. Within the weekly fee in a Berkley Care Group care home is everything residents would expect such as food, washing, care and comfortable surroundings, but also a whole lot more.

The jewel in the crown for foodies is the fine dining rooms in each of our homes, all offering sophisticated menus created by our expert chefs, complete with fine wine. During more normal times, our residents are welcome to invite their families and friends for supper or lunch, a birthday or other celebration, or simply because they feel like it. After all, who needs a reason to spend quality time with loved ones? When we say that we want our residents to treat this as their home, we mean it. Having space to invite friends around makes visiting hours inevitably longer, more relaxed and enjoyable. Once again, all-inclusive means just that – all of this is included in the fee.

In more ordinary times, residents like to take the chauffeur-driven car out, have spa treatments, visit the cinema, the gym*, enjoy an evening event and they do not have to worry about an extra penny.

Presently, our residents are making the most of a whole range of activities despite the pandemic. They can take classes in art, baking, fitness; whatever takes their fancy. Many prefer to play croquet on the lawn or sit in our bar bistro area by the fire with a book, enjoying the beautiful surroundings with a pot of tea and a cake.

For residents to be able to enjoy everything on offer to them in one of our homes, we ensure that they have access and help to be able to take part and utilise the home as much as possible. After all, all the fabulous facilities in the world are no good if they can’t use them. This is exactly why we make sure that there is always somebody on hand to help.

Residents in our homes don’t ever have to worry about ‘being a burden’ with tired, overworked staff stretched between too many tasks – they want relaxed company and someone who has the time to spend chatting, gardening or simply watching the world, so that’s exactly what we offer.

We have invested just under half a million pounds in ski chalet-style lodges to facilitate COVID secure visits from family members. Each lodge boasts a sumptuous sitting room divided in half by glass for the ultimate protection against the virus. Families and residents can enjoy a glass of bubbly and a cream tea and take in those precious moments together. Following each visit, the lodge disinfects itself ready for the next visit.

Furthermore, residents all have access to iPads to call their family members and friends whenever they feel like a chat and our carers are on hand to help where necessary. We have had many Zoom birthday parties over recent months!

When the pandemic is over, we will be reopening our homes to non-residents for them to enjoy all the benefits of our exclusive facilities for a short period of time. Carers can use our homes as a safe and happy alternative when they are unable to be present; the home provides variety and social interaction for those who spend much of their time alone; a day at one of our homes is an ideal way of experiencing a taste of what we have to offer prior to moving in permanently.

Those who choose to come to us for daycare can begin their morning by being collected in a chauffeur-driven limousine or minibus, take breakfast, lunch and dinner, participate in the enjoyment of any of the activities, enjoy the free bar and events, and use of all the home’s facilities. At the end of the day, our chauffeur will ensure residents have a relaxing drive back to their own home. What could be better?

The term ‘luxury’ is often used to describe care homes, and in many cases, it’s misused. We were one of the first operators in the UK to offer such a high standard of fit and finish in our homes, and now, we are pushing the boundaries even further. Our designers scour the UK for inspirational designs; our homes feature bespoke artwork, including from SCARLETT RAVEN, with some pieces including augmented reality to add depth to the experience. . Visit our gallery of the homes’ interiors to see how and where we are bringing hotel-standard interior design into care homes.

Berkley Care Group comprises seven luxury 5* hotels offering care to the elderly: Cumnor Hill House (Oxford), Shinfield View (Berkshire), Leycester House (Warwickshire), Portobello Place (Buckinghamshire), Groveland Park (Kent) and the newly opened Badminton Place (Bristol).
